Its 3-4 months old babies. I put the filter water next to the platform. Is that the reason that it doesnt bask? Does the turtle have to bask?

Are they skiddish around the filter? Is it noisy? If so, that could be a reason why they would avoid their basking platform. As for the need to bask, yes, the need to. I think it's important for their UVa/UVb absorption as well as regulating their body temps. I'm not sure what all the reasons for it are, but someone else will so hang in there. Are you sure they're not basking when you're not around? I know that's what my turt did for a long time. How long have you had them? Are they just being shy? Embarassed

turtles that don't bask enough might have shell problems like shell rot. if u think they're not basking then u have to force them for like 30 minutes twice a day take them out of water and put them under the UV bulbs

The filter isnt loud but isnt quiet. Most of the time my turtles stays at the side of the platform but they still touch the water. I have them for four months. No they arnt shy.

If I take and force them to another place, will they get scared if they arnt familiar with the surrounding? Is flourcent blubs are ok since they have little UV?

UV bulbs are different, they are made special for reptiles cz they have UVA+UVB and i don't think any other lighting will have UV cz it's harmful for human beings (but won't harm u if u have it for ur turtle..).

they might be stressed but i guess they'll be ok if u make it seem nice like a walk outside if u have a backyard..just keep an eye on them cz they are really fast Smile

Is there any place that has little percent of UV bulbs for my turtles? I dont want to get near the UV bulbs because its harmful to humans.

don't worry it's harmful for human beings when u sunbathe directly under the sun without any support (sun blocks, caps...) in the middle of the day. otherwise, every living thing needs varying UV amounts from the sun. so it won't harm u when u have it for ur turtles unless well, u bask side by side Wink

UV is actually essential for humans, in certain amounts! We use it to give our bodies vitamin d.... that's why some ppl get depressed in the winter, lack of UV and it creates a vitamin d deficiency... So little doses aren't necessarily harmful for us. Wink
