Please be careful not having that kiddie pool covered. My friends turtle disappeared yesterday. Although she has a piece of plywood over one side and chicken wire over the other she had one vanish. Searched the yard cant find no where! |

| Chinese box turtle's need more room in water, they love to get all the way in. They come from a tiny area in China and are found around the rice fields....where there is alot of water. For one of these turtle's I would do 1/4 to 1/2 water...deep enough to cover the shell. and the rest of the area dirt and sand. They need to NOT eat hotdogs and ham...try trout chow, turtle pellets in the water and also provide a dish with fresh greens and fruit, veggies dialy.....stop feeding the meats for a few days and it'll start eating the good food. If you continue the processed foods you are poisoning your turtle and it's liver cannot handle all that. I have a friend who has about 20 chinese box turtle's and he also breeds them...I was looking into them as they are really pretty and neat turtle's, but he wants $300 for them each and that's with a friend discount! lol He sold me my Japanese pond turtle for $30 and normally they go for $100...just don't want to know what he really sells those Chinese boxie's for! lol |
