|
|
Someone ran over a paint turtle along our road and underneath we found 3 eggs she must have laid after she got hit. I know the turtle was recently run over because it was still alive (we had someone put it to sleep). I was wondering how to best care for the eggs. Ive seen paint turtles come and lay eggs by our house before so I just buried them where Ive seen others bury them before summers ago for the mean time. Will they survive??? I was hesitant to set something up and incubate them in the house since I dont know what conditions they need. If anyone has any advise let me know! |

| I dont think I flipped them...I hope I didn't anyway, I read in one of the posts that flipping them could kill the little guys but I didnt see that until I already buried them :/ |

umm ok let's hope u didn't
anyways, read this about caring for eggs:
| Quote: | | You must provide a nesting area. For this, you can use a box. It has to be easily accessible for your turtle. It must have about 12 to 16 inches deep of slightly moist soil, sand, or moss. Water turtles can lay several clutches per summer consisting of two to ten eggs. There are a few weeks between each clutch, and their laying usually takes 24 to 48 hours per clutch. After the eggs have been laid, remove the eggs. DO NOT TURN OVER THE EGGS! To help, you can mark the top of the egg with magic marker ensuring that you don't turn the eggs over. |
