Welcome to the board, moll02! Wow! Ireland is so beautiful, do you love it there? Wink Glad to have you and your girls here! How big/old are they? Maybe we can help you determine their sex.

They were a year old in march we have them since they were four months old. they are about 3.5 inches but i will get back wit definate measurements... Neither of them seem to have longer nails than the other do and both their tails appear the same, however they both do the 'mating dance at each other' The people in the pet shop thought I was mad and said they are too young for that, the information in Ireland is not good but this site has answered an awful lot of my questions... At the min here it's lashing rain and it's cold (Typical!) eventhough it's the start of summer... Yea I love Ireland but the weather is fecies you ever been? Also neither of the girls seem to bask anymore??

I don't know what to think about your turts not basking lately, are you sure they're not just being a little shy and doing it when no one is looking? My turt will slide right off her basking dock the second I walk into the room (course then she starts begging for food!!). Are they eating well and behaving normally besides that? If they both have shorter nails and tails, then I would say they are girls, but pics always help, is there any way you could post some? Wink

I've never been to Ireland, but hopefully someday! All the pics I've ever seen from there make it look so beautiful! My ancestors are from Norway, but I've never been there either!! The farthest from Idaho I've been is Hawaii.... and would love to go there again!! The weather was like that here yesterday, thunder and lightning with major rain, & today the wind feels arctic! Hope it's summer enough for our camping trip this weekend! Razz

Maybe they are just being shy!!! They always come swimmin over when I come in but it's just for food oh the eat everything although since readin this site I have realised we have been feeding them too much so this evening they had lettuce and needless to say they are none too impressed.... Do you talk to your turtle??? I am always talkin to them my family think I am mad... I would love to go to Hawaii it sounds so exocitic I have only been to a few countries in Europe want to go somewhere like New York or Florida do...

Oh yes, I talk to my turtle all the time!! And in the summer I take her for "walks" outside... needless to say, my neighbors think I'm crazy!! I found out from this site too, that I was overfeeding my turt, in fact, Snap was a fatty! Whoops! She's already slimmed down so I'm feeling much better about her health! Razz

Hawaii is absolutely amazing! I took my twin sister with me and we stayed for two weeks. We didn't get to visit all the islands, but we met with our uncle on the big island (he's lived there for like thirty years!), then we were off to Waikiki on Maui, and then to Kaui (my favorite of all the places we went!!)... very small townish... and that's the way I like it!

My boyfriend is a surfer from Florida, he grew up in Guam, California, and Florida so he loves the ocean, but he loves to snowboard and the winters here are what brought him to live in Idaho! Razz There is a place on the river near us, called the Lunchcounter (no idea why Question ) and he can kind of surf there, it's like a standstill kind of surfing.... but we ride dirtbikes, target shoot, camp, and fish during the summer so we're never bored!! Wow, I didn't mean to give you my life history... but there it is anyway!!

Thank goodness she recovered! My Snap is about 6 in in carapace length now!! I can't believe how much she's grown in the last year! My silly son said yesterday he wants a lizard, I told him we already have a turtle, but he insisted after she passes.... oooh, I could've spanked him! But I kindly reminded him that she might live 25 years!... .I hope!! She loves to play outside & I'm trying hard this summer to get her a little pond put in the backyard.

Paris must be amazing! I would love to visit there... I don't know any French though, just a little German. My sister was in Germany for a month this last summer (yes, we're identical... I should try to post a pic on a different thread later)... she loved it there! Mostly for all the stout beer! She came back with a "Guiness Can", that's what our brother calls her butt now!! lol! Laughing

Must try get some pictures up myself finding it hard to do though... Yea paris is gorgeous as is Germany... Guinness seems to be everywhere now must be only thing thats famous from Ireland!!! We must start exporting our strawberries they are yummy!!! Not a big guinness fan myself....... My two girls got loads more water today I don't think they are too impressed to be honest thought they were getting an RI but i think it was only once they blew bubbles didn't see them doin in again... I'm not mad on lizards they are not as cool as turtles what age is your son..

Oooh, I love strawberries way more than Guiness!! I'm not a big fan of beer anyway (I'd rather drink the girly drinks!). My sister is a tomboy and I'm a super girly-girl, so it would figure the darker the beer the better for her!!

Can you upload your pics to photobucket? That's how I posted Snappy's picture! Laughing

Snappy loved when I moved her into her bigger tank with loads more water! I hope your turts aren't getting an RI, from what I've heard those infections are nasty little buggers!

My son just turned 7 years old on May 18th! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! I hate that he's probably going to be an only child, but sometimes that's the way it goes! I have lots of friends with kids about his age so atleast he's got the social interaction there! He's never had a problem sharing or being bossy so I think so far I'm on the right track!...I hope! Neutral Do you have any kids, besides your turts? (Maybe I should've asked how old you are first?!)

Really, Dixieee? How come? My mom started crying when she found out she was having twins (she was only 18 at the time), and she said the only thing that made her feel better was when my Grammy told her "Oh how fantastic, twins! One for you and one for me!!!" LOL! My Gram was an awfully special lady! She passed away 13 days before I had my son, her memorial was actually on my due date, but I told him he'd have to wait... and he came three days later! It's odd how things work that way...

sorry for ur loss. life has its own way in going..my grand father passes away a day after my niece was born. the difference is that i didn't know him and met him 3 times only in my whole life.. it's like someone gives his/her place in this world to someone else!

but anyways yeah i LOVE having twins. i know i'll go insane that time but hopefully i'll have my mom and hubby to help me Neutral whenever i know about anyone who had twins i go running to them and ask how they had them (expecting to hear about a special hormone or something) but they say "well, u know, the same old way!" Rolling Eyes get me the recipe if u know it Wink Laughing

I agree, Dixieee, I think you're right... someone leaves, and someone arrives!!
No ideas on that one!! If I had the recipe, I would definitely give it to you! All I know is that they were kids... literally! My biological dad was 16!! Shame on my mom!! We (my sister & I) didn't meet him till we were 13! And then we met his dad (our Grandfather) when we were 18.... interestingly enough, he and his girlfriend had a baby after my son was born!! Al and his great uncle are the same age for one month out of every year... and then Dakota is younger than Al again! My family tree must look crazy on paper!! LOL! Laughing

age difference was somehow familiar a while back. my dad's side of the family is mixed up that way too. my grandmother used to breastfeed my aunt with my cousin. even in my mom's side, my mom is a grammy now although she's not the eldest between her bro's and sisters and my uncle who is 2 years younger than her just had a baby a month ago Rolling Eyes

anyways, yeah making bubbles is not a good sign. it could mean something but see it's like the minor symptoms
