I'm interested in getting a 45gal. tank for my turtle with all the necessities but how does one change the water in such a large tank? |

I agree with turtle_grl, I only do partial water changes and scrub algae off the basking platform.... just make sure you get a good filter... it needs to be rated for atleast 2X the amount of water you have in the tank. I recommend a good canister filter. _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

You can also use a python... like this
I also normally try to get a filter that's 3x the amount of water in my tank (that's just my personal preferrence). |

| i haven't set up my big tank yet, i've been using ReptoGuard medicated sulfa blocks in the smaller tank i have now. i realize i'll have to use more for the amount of water, but should i be using something different or something better? |

i have set up my new bigger tank. i got a fluval 4plus filter for aquariums up to 57 gal. its been almost 1 week and everything seems to be going good. Jade seems to be healthy and happy. my daughter won some gold fish at a carnival, so jade lives with 3 fish too. the fish and Jade pretty much stay away from each other.
my next learning expirence will be changing the water and cleaning algea that is begining to grow. i am getting alot of tips from other turtle owners on how to do this.
i thought i'd have alot of questions, but i just read through some of the other entries and i can usually find what i'm looking for. thanks to everyone ! ! ! |
