I just emptyed the pond, took out the last 10inch high mud from it Very Happy . (who didnt read my pond filter post) Its a 200 to 35 inch pond. kind of like this -> http://www.absoluteponds.com/images/stone_quarry_fountain.JPG but without the fountain stone. My questions are -> going to paint the pond with rubber paint. how long till i can fill it with water and when it will be safe for my turtles to swim in it??? and on a book i found for fish it has to be 10inchs low the water because of cats, 10 ichs are good for turtles too? will it be safe for 3 inch turtles??? and should i put in my5 inch & 3 inch turtles??? because i dont want them to get tieard and end up drowning. and if i just put Maggie my 7/inch turtle (for summer) i dont want her to forget the othres and endup fighting. What should i do??? all in ??? Confused Confused Confused

I don't have any experience with ponds, but if it were me, I would make the water low enough for the turtles not to escape. I would also add a basking platform for them to get up on and sun themselves, and to just rest on when they got tired of swimming.

Clay pots are fine for water. What brand of rubber paint? Some of these products will leach chems into the water?

Exactly how large is the pond in inches, and all of your turtles? It is an outside pond? Also, which types of turtles do you have? (I know you told me, but 10 is a lot to remember!)

200inch to 35 And hight inside on the left is 36 and right is 28 inchs deep. I want all of my tank turtles (8 ) pics -> http://www.allturtles.com/msgboard/viewtopic.php?t=5816 (but not Emite yet because thell atack him) So Brian & Emite (which are in a bowl next to the tank) will take the tank in summer when my 8 tanks turtles are in the pond. Yes an outside pond. And they are 2 Red-Eard, 1 Chinese Soft Shell, 1 Flase Map, 1 Florida Cooter, 1 Peninsula Cooter, 1 Yellow- Bellied Slider & 1 Red-Bellied (which will go in the pond). And when Brian hes a Ouachita Map & Emite a Red-Bellied Cooter are big anuf will jone them. So they dont get eatin by Maggie or Brigget (my turtles) Plus ill ask my father when he comes home what paint it is. Thanks xxxxx

Hmmm, how many gallons does it hold?

I'd also be a little concerned with keeping all of those species together.

Keep us posted and make sure to post pictures of the final project!! Smile

As long as you have a basking platform in the pond for them to get onto when they are tired, and to sun themselves, I wouldn't worry about them getting tired.

As for your cats getting to them... I'm not sure, I guess that depends on how you set it up.

I got 2 new questions.-> because my mother told me its very hot over there when there sun baiting they wont get cooked or when they jump in the water it wont be hot??? plus my father wants me to fill in the pond only abit of water like 10inchs and all that work for that. i wanted 30 up... so it will take longer time to get dirty the water. what do you think??

Personally I would put the pond in a half shaded place. Just so the water doesn't get too warm. Also the deeper the water the cooler it will stay.

i would call it a river Smile very nice..btw just make sure u dig that fence deep enough so they don't go under it and hight enough so ur cats don't get on. it'll be much better if u keep the cats much farther from the fence too. but it's lovely. good job u've done there Smile

As far as a shelf I would veture into the woods or soemthing like that and look for some branches or something that would fit and bit large enough for them to sit on. U might just get lucky.
