|
|
My little Eastern Painted Turtle, Edward is going to his rehabilitator tomorrow. So, it is time for me to say good bye to my little buddy. The lady who is going to rehabilitate him is going to wane him off the pellets I have been feeding him, and introduce him to goldfish. He should then learn to hunt for food on his own. He will also live on her farm in one of her many ponds. Once (and if) he is ready, he will be set free. I wish my little bud the best of luck! He will always be loved and I know he will be so happy in the wild.
I thought I would celebrate Edward's new life with some pictures of him.
Chowing on some tasty tuna!

Because he can't thank you, I am going to.
Thank you so much for caring about his quality of life to set him free.
To many people don't understand
that no matter how good a home you provide for a turtle,
you can never give them the quality of life they would have in the wild.
Good bye Edward. I wish you a most wonderful and happy life. _________________

Much respect to you, Nevfalath, for doing such a great job! It's sad you have to say goodbye, and it must be terribly hard, but atleast you know he's going to be living in a good environment!
Goodbye, Edward, and enjoy the wild, if you're released there, for all of the captive turtles!! _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

He came from the wild and it wasn't right for me to take him away from his natural life. So, I sent him to a rehabilitator who will care for him until he is ready to be released. I didn't want to see my baby go, but it was the best thing to do for him. He deserves to be free and happy. _________________ -= Shannon =- |

I Think its kind of good your sending him back. but if you have Edward. He doesnt need to worry how hes going to find food or not get eaten or live in dirty water. Plus i dont know how a 'Wild turtle' can be that clien normaily they have shell roth or grass growing on them. So Eastern might have got dump by someone eals or his mother or father... so he had no choce to pick this life.! Well thats what i think My sister dump her turtles in our pond (when it was foll of mud & dirth) and belive me they wereant happy, and they stand they same size and lots loads of waight (you could feel ans see there tummy of there sell in) and my Maggie in the tank grow all most full size. My sisters turtles were always bigger than Maggie. and ever since she dumped them she really over grow them. Well i cought them 1 was a boy and one a girl i think. ek they were the size you can tell there sex. One was swimming fast coming to me and the other just went under the mud i grab one and dug my hand in the mud & got the other (i was really happy i only ever maniage to find one) . i clien them & got them in the house and feed them... When finally we took them to this big place called the chinese gardens, and we went in the rain heaeeae. and they have other turtles there and koi so there will be food (sorry i wrote so much) So you have any turtles know _________________ LOVE Animals ... I'm sure he will have no problem find and catching food on his own, I am just worried about any bacteria he might have. Releasing turtles into the wild can have a high risk of infecting that area, and I don't want to harm the environment or set it off balance.
Yes, I have a baby Russian Tortoise now. _________________ -= Shannon =- |

He looks clien, dont know how he can have any. Plus when people find wild animals (like the RSPCA) they have to releas them in the same place they found them because the animals is ust to it and its there home. _________________ LOVE Animals ... | how do u rehabilitate a turtle just feed it fish and not feed it until he catches it or just with plants and for meat he has to get the fish? or what i heard they did it but i never heard of any1 releasing them like that most people just take them and dump them and dont really care if they live or what. |

Goodbye my sweet edward, may you live a safe and happy life and never forget the angel that opened his heart to let you go. That takes courage, strength, and lots and lots of heartache, and even more It takes LOVE.
Good bye to you both..................................................
