It's been a loong while since I last posted pix of my babies. They've grown now and there's an addition to them The new guy is little Lemon. here are they:
Green (bottom) and mint on top of her as usual on their boat
Green and mint basking..mint is piling on her "as usual" too. P.S: they were eating that's why the water is messy around it's never like that
Green and mint on the boat, that's part of their setup
this is baby lemon and yes this is the "death bowl" but that's what i rescued him in and had to keep him there to recover. he moved into his new home now but stopped eating so he's doing shifts on both
hope u like them _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

thanx trtlduv
well of course i do worry especially that i witnessed some attacks from green she did bite mint's hand twice but it happened during feeding time so now they eat separated. other than that i'm so thankful they enjoy having each other around especially when basking. i'm worried about little lemon though, he looks so lonely and he's a desperate little guy _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

I so wish I could have more, but I just don't have the room right now. My house is tiny so Snap's tank already takes up a lot of space, but I'm hoping to build a pond in the backyard this summer. Lots of work, but I'm sure it will be worth it! I don't think I can afford to keep it heated in the winter here and I thought I heard something about not letting them hibernate until they're five or so (is that right?)... so maybe by then I'll be able to afford to heat it! A girl can always dream, right? _________________ shade & sweetwater! |

Don't worry about your turtle being lonely. They are not social animals and don't need companionship. _________________ -= Shannon =- |

They're so cute dixieee. I wish I could giv Earl (my RES) a boat like that too. Right now he only has a tub. Where do you plan to put them both if, let's say they get to be 10-12 inches long? I think Earl is about 8 inches in carapace length. |

thanx VersteckterGeist, yes i know it's sad but he had RI and couldn't swim so everytime i moved him to the new tank he went to gasping again and i had to remove him + he would never eat in there so i had to keep him in that death bowl until he gets a bit stronger. as soon as things started getting better, he suddenly started gasping away and passed away in 2 hours..as peacefully as it could ever happen

| how do determine a death bowl? Is it because of the small size of the tub? What if I couldn't find a tub with the required minimum size for my RES? the biggest I could find is 18x26 but the required minimum is 18x36? Will it be okay? |

the death bowl is called so cz it's not made ready to handle all the required lightings, filters, heaters...and it's too small that u can't inc the level of water or else u will have to give up the dry land+ it's too small to fit a hatchling, yet they tell u that ur turtle can live there for good claiming that it won't grow much bigger
about the measurements, sorry but i don't know how much that would be. what i can assure u is that u will have to go for 10 gallons/inch of shell length _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

i dont like death bowls netheir. i dont like those turtle lagoons i seen tiny turtle lagoons in some pets stores i think the tiny turtle lagoon is not really made for an hatchling turtle. dixieee i love your turtles buit i think it sad that lemon pass away. and by the way how much did the rubbermaid tub cost?and i have another question what do u think a 20 gal. rubbermaid tub would cost? _________________ [IMG]http://i9.tinypic.com/2rdhmq.jpg[IMG] |

thanx sunny..
this one is about 30-gallons and costed me about $6-$7, don't remember how much exactly cz it's been a while. i don't know how much do they cost at the US cz in here they sell them for underbed storage but nobody seems to use them that's why i get good bargains on them the only benefit of living in "the lost desert"! _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo
