|

Hi guys! My fiance and I had gotten a 10 gal tank for his 2 baby RES, Yoda and Petri Don't worry this is still only a temp tank since they are very tiny.
The pics of the even smaller tank could be found here:
http://www.allturtles.com/msgboard/forum-24.html
Anyway, here are the new ones! I was also curious if you guys could check out the height of the water. I had the same problem with the older/smaller tank where it seemed as if the turts were both frantically swimming or even drowning! This time I tried to make the water about a little bit less than before: the size of the shell + half an inch more since I was scared they might drown
(above pic: There goes our Tetra Whisper filter against the glass to prevent "strong currents/waves" and for a quieter environment)
(above pic: This is Petri (the little guy with the problem with constantly digging). Anyone have any idea why he always likes being "under the rocks" and in the shade?)
(above pic: This is Yoda swimming. He seems to enjoy the water a lot There's Petri inside the coconut )
Well there you go guys! Any suggestions/advice? Hope to hear from u all! _________________ =JENNY&RYAN=

| Looks like enough water for now. Eventually you will need to add more. Im not sure the rocks you have in there are ok to have, as I Have seen/ read on here the turtles will try to eat them. When I had my turtle in the 10 gal tank, I had a couple of artificial trees and half the tank had enough water in it to atleast cover the trees, that way when the turtles swam around and needed to catch a break the could hold on to the top of the trees. The loved and I loved it even more after I removed the rocks like you have, I now have them in a 40gal long tank with the river rocks in it, I also have 2 docks, one on each end so if the get tried they can climb on and rest. They seem to love it. |

OMG they're soo adorable and the setup is so cool is that a coconut they have? it's a nice idea btw little petri looks like a shy little guy that's why he might be always digging and hiding. give him some time and he'll be ok. water level looks good for now like turtle_grl77 said but u can increase it gradually until they master swimming and both of u enjoy it more. they're good swimmers and they do it really cute u might need to get bigger river rocks when u do that
good luck with the little cuties _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

Start adding water every day and they'll get used to it. You might want to put in some plastic plants to give Petri places to rest and hide.
As long as they have resting spots near the water surface and don't get trapped under anything, it is not very likely that they will drown. Most cases of drowning I've seen posted have been from turtles getting stuck in filters or under large rocks. |
