my wierd one jabora will come out to bask- but it might take a day to go back in, so hes totally dreid out - when he does go back in the water there will be white flakes of skin floating around form shedding. i didnt know if this was normal and i really dont wanna disturb him while basking( theyre both still trying to get over theyre vet appointment 3 weeks ago!) so yeah, anybody else with this prob? i know basking and shedding are perfectly normal but how long is 2 long with basking and y is he shgedding if hes full grown?!?!?!?!?! _________________ "my turtles can beat your turtles' tail" |

How do you know he's full grown? I think they will still shed even if they are full grown, but probably not as often. They would still grown new skin, just like people do.
Is your water warm enough? Does he have any other symptoms? |

the thermo read 78 farenheit( im canadian and dunno in celcuis ) i think thats what it said. his heater is a lower watt setting than jaboris but they both are arounf 78..that shedding thoing does make sense though compared to humans shedding. it hasnt happened since i posted so maybe its ok now..
i know they are full grown b/c they measure typical adult for males and both are sexually mature and have dark shells. jabori hasnt grown anymore in 6 years and jabora id the same size so i just assumed. _________________ "my turtles can beat your turtles' tail" |

| If they're RES, 78 is a little warm for adults. You might want to lower the temps a few degrees. |

well, when i posted i went home and checked- the temp in jaboras is 20 celcuis and jaboris is a little warmer.( different wattage) so i should lower?? hes fine now and regularily goes in and out its jabori that is wierd now!! he hardly comes out to bask at all.... both are shedding like crazies now so maybe they sre still growing but very little!! i havent seen any significant change in either and thought they were done!! _________________ "my turtles can beat your turtles' tail" |

If the temp is 78 that a little too warm and will encourage more shedding. The temp for adult RES should be 72 - 76.
They'll still shed skin and shell their whole lives, just like people do. |
