I came home last night to 4-5 eggs in my painted turtle’s tank. Ignore my ignorance, but she (who I thought was a he! =) ) has no interaction with any other turtles. Can females reproduce on their own? I feel so silly, but I am not well-versed on turtle breeding, as I wasn’t intending on it!
All of the eggs were broken. Will she lay them again? What should I do with them?
Thank you very much for your help! |

| Female turtles will lay unfertile eggs. Just throw them away. And yes she can and many do it again. |

welcome to the board
if u are able to keep all those baby turtles coming (space, expenses, time, care, and many other costs..) then get a male but it's really not recommended at all cz breeding needs a lot and normal turtle owners can't hold all that. leave it to breeders _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

Gotcha-- thanks for your advice, I just got so excited when I saw eggs, I didn't know what to do next! I think she's just fine by herself and we'll keep it that way.. as much as I'd love some little turtle babies:) |

i know what u mean..baby turtles are so cute and irresistable but they need a lot of caring and have big chances of getting fatal diseases _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo
