for your turtles? I know this may seem silly but I wanted to get some ideas to keep them happy and stimulated.
Hope this question isn't too silly...just didn't want them to get bored. (ps they are semi aquatic (sliders, obvious by my nic. lol)
Thanks for any suggestions. |

I try to play with Petri, my RES, by moving his food pellets above the water so he has to swim around and catch them. I think that's fun for him.
That's the only thing I've thought of so far.
I want to figure out a way for him to play with a ping pong ball... for some reason that idea is stuck in my head. |

I added this on after you had already viewed it so thought wouldnt hurt to say it here either
Hi Again
I like to have a couple of smaller logs in the water as fred can move them around by chucking them up on his shell. and also good for his nails. Plants are great to as they pull them up and i replant them.
Freds annoying habit is pulling the lid of his fillter. once i have put it back on he pulls it off again. drives me nuts... but he likes doing it and I cant quite workout how he worked it out!!! Very smart
If you choose to add some logs in good things to 'member are if you are getting them from "the garden" then sand them back to remove anybits easily swallowed and then soak them in a bucket for at least a month prior. The good soaking will remove any toxins that has been picked up enviromentally so make sure in that month the water is changed a couple of times a week or so.

Thanks CeCe,
Sounds like some things they would enjoy.
I thought about picking up driftwood off the beach but wondered how to get the salt out. I wonder if soaking it like that would clean it enough? Has anyone tried that?
Fred sounds like quite the character!! |

soaking them would be fine. the salt will lift out of the log.
The best test is just to "taste" it at the end. If you cant it will be fine, as salt chemically likes to lift to surface as it drys

I'll try that, thanks!
I put a rubber bouncy ball in their tank and they seem to like it!!
It's so cute...they put their lil feet on it and push it around.
Just thought I'd share this idea.

It really is cute!
Another funny thing they've been doing...we got a filter and they
jump off the basking area into the waterfall, get pushed down then swim
back to the top. I've caught them doing it several times now, just cracks
me up!!! |
