ok our lil babies now have a filter, a UVA & UVB light, a basking light, and now a red light for night time to keep the water warm. (they were out of heaters and tonight will be the first cold night since they came home)
My question is, are they supposed to have that basking heat at night. The water is 74/76 (so hard to read those tiny little thermometers). The basking area is 84.

hmm ur temps are slightly under the range. high 70's-low 80's for water and high 80's for basking if u could get them up.

for the basking light, nope make it something like 12-12hrs

Thanks Dixiee, the temps eventually went up a bit more.
(ranting now)
I'm SOO sick and tired of those people at Pet Smart (that
swear they know everything there is to know about turtles).
Everytime I shop there I'm mis-informed, they're out of stock often, and now I've gotten faulty products(one of the clamp lamps wiring makes the light short out if moved-which is all the time cause the darn lamp will not stay clipped for long). Mad
(done ranting...for now)

I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I'm having serious issues with
the clamp lamps now that I have two. They are constantly falling so my question...is there a secret to keeping them where you want them?
Btw, they are clamped to the back of a slatted chair.

Oops, forgot to mention that I'm returning the red light. I told the woman exactly what kind of turtles I had and that they had uva/uvb, plus a basking light during the day so she should have known (since she was a previous turtle owner) that they don't need basking heat at night. I'm sure she was trying to help since they haven't had heaters stocked in ages and knew I was worried about Crush and Squirt getting cold that night.

Guess it's time to find a new pet store.
