ive noticed the shell of my res is fading.. its not a dark green anymore. is it normal? or bad? its about 2 month old. eating great, growing in size and active.

another question. my turtles dont bask as much .. or i think i can even say never. why is that?

This is very normal for discoloration of the shell. It is caused by the turtle sheding it's scutes while it grows. The old 'skin' on the shell with start to peel off and make it appear that the turtle's coloration is much paler. As for the basking, I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as theturtle is eating plenty and is active, you may just be missing out when he's basks.

yep that's normal but still keep an eye on the shell. he must be basking when no one's around and give him some privacy if that's what he does so u don't get stuck with shell problems bcz of not basking. every now and then, use a soft toothbrush to clean his shell and scrub it gently under warm running water. it'll help (not in the coloring but in removing anything that might cause problems) Smile
