|
| Hi Im new here. I got my turles about 4 months ago. They're about 2 1/2 inches long right now. I was just wondering about how long they live and about how big they might get. I don't know for sure if they're male or female. Im thinkin female. I just bought a 40 gal tank that they seem to love at least for now. This is a great site and Im learning alot. Let me know how big some of yours are so I get an idea. Thanks!! |

welcome to the board females can reach up to 14" while males tend to be smaller 9-11". they usually live for 20 years + and in captivity they could live till the 40's so it is a long-life commitment if u take good care of them.
for the sizes, one of mine is about the size of urs and the other one is almost half that size.
how many turtles do u have? _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

I've had mine for about 8 months and 1 is 6 inches the other is about 4 inches. It really depends on the individual turtle. As long as their healthy I wouldn't worry too much about how fast they are growin. _________________ 2 big RES, 1 Flowerhorn Cichlid, 1 Cockatiel. Thanks! Like a lot of people I got mine before knowing how big they might get. I didn't realize how big their home needs to be. They sell them in a bowl after all. Well when they outgrow the 40 gal I'll go back to the pet store to buy a bigger one. Thanks again. |

they'll be fine in there especially if the basking area is floating or is a 2nd-storey place. now keep saving for the biggest upgrade u can have (space, money, effort) to save _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

I just measured my turtles today. One of them has grown a half inch in almost two months. Wow that's fast. |

Okay i was reading everyones measurements but I'm curious do you only measure the shell or from head to tail??? I know Ren & Stimpy have grown since I got them but not sure how much. And they are both shedding...I call it their ugly duckling stage. |

it's only shell length..
