|

Just to give you a quick update. My RES is doing great! I raised the temp in the main tank, and cover it at night when the house temp goes down to keep the heat in. He's eating everything (even fruit)! He's hand feeding again, and not basking constantly and can swim properly and can maintain a proper float.
Question: Will they ever enjoy (too strong of a word) being held? My RES's are 1.5 years old and they really do not enjoy being touched or held. Is that normal? They are just beginning to stay out on the basking rock and USUALLY not panic when we walk by. Perhaps I'm being impatient. |

i'm glad to here your turtle is doing great. i also cover my turtle at night, too . i guess it's normal for a turtle to hate being touched. some turtles get a little angry at times. _________________ new!sea monkeys with turtles at www.freewebs.com/iseamonkey

glad to know he's fine
they'll get used to u. yes i agree with questionire they don't really "enjoy" being held. my turtles know me well but still one of them hides in the shell if i pick her up. the other keeps fighting only. when they were smaller, they liked to walk from one hand to another when i make them like steps. try it _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

| I've only ever had one turtle that I thought actually enjoyed being held. It was a little painted turtle and he would stick his neck out so I could give him a little rub with my finger. All my other turtles either hide in their shell or try to get away. |

| Thanks, I feel better about that. 2 of mine hide and the other 1 fights. Glad to know that's normal behaviour. |
