I am planning on getting two new baby RESs. Does anybody know any thing about where I can get them? I've been looking at turtlesale.com...but I want to buy from a reputable place.
thanks for any information you can give me!

Baby RES, in some states are illegal to sell, purchase or even adopt. However there is a store not too far from my home that sometimes carries them, dat's where I adopted mine from just a couple of days ago. If you really really really can't find one, i'll see If I can find one for you, and you can just pay me for it. You can also go on ebay to bid on one which is actually easier.

Hi;

I brought 4 baby turtles from Turtlesale.com and I love them. I have 2 for me and then I bought 2 more for a gift for someone. They are about 2 inches in lenght (which is against the law to "purchase" so they call it adoption) I'm very happy with mine.

I live in Australia and would really like a small turtle like a Red Ear Slider, but I hav Never seen any type of turtle for sale anywhere. Does anyone know if I am allowed to have RES's in Australia, or any other similar type of turtle? I know I need a reptile licence for any type of turtle, but I don't know what breeds are available here, or where I am likey to find one. Question

okay. this question has a tricky answer..

i have 3 turtles, two were purchased online.. and the other was found in my swimming pool.

i purchased my turtles from http://www.reptilecity.com, and they do have fair prices.. however, i don't particularly care for the way they shipped them. being a first time buyer, my sister went ahead and bought the extra 'heating pad' option.. or whatever it was to ensure the best shipping method for the animals.

instead.. they arrived at my house inside of a small box, inside of a styrofoam cup with some moss inside and some sort of worm that the site promotes. the box didn't even have a fragile sticker on it. one of the worms was also embedded in one of my turlte's face.. i thought it was an ear problem, but the worm ended up popping out of the turtle's face when it hatched..

i was very displeased to say the least...

now if you buy them from the pet store.. usually they keep the poor animals in such a horrid state (my sister and i always harrass petsmart because of this..) and buying them from commercial vendors only perpetuates this cycle...

so it really depends on what you want to do about it... i had no idea that's how the site shipped the animals, otherwise i definately would NOT have bothered.. but someone from this site told me that they shipped them that way because ups or fedex (forgot which) doesn't ship live animals...

just my experience.

i would suggest thst you buy your RESs at the pet store. i bought mine at a local pet store and told me what to feed it and how to take care of it. i guess you can always come here for help too. anyways i'm with VersteckterGeist on this one it would be your choice from ordering online. i think it will be easier to buy it at a pet store.

yeah but most pet stores are ignorant and only care to get rid of the turtles that's when they tell u they'll be ok in a small container or even worse, let u buy the "death bowl". if u're willing to purchase them online, go for a reputed breeder. there are many but i don't have their websites now so i'll look for them
