My expertiece is with Aquatic turtles, but 400w is a lot.
The only way I could answer that is to find out how far away the light is from the turtles.
I can't see you needing more then 100w, 400w is probably for live stock.

Test out how hot the basking are is getting. If it's too hot you probably want a lower watt bulb, that does seem like alot. _________________ 2 big RES, 1 Flowerhorn Cichlid, 1 Cockatiel. I will alway hold a place in my heart for Daphne, my albino RES. |
