It's more of a judgement call. If you want to keep your tank water sparkling clean for longer periods of time or are trying to cut down the frequency of cleaning the tank feed in a seperate container. If your going to clean the tank every weekend regardless feed them in tank. I've done it both ways, the turtles could care less, just as long as your feeding them. Do keep in mind that turtles do carry Salamonella (spelling?) and if your putting them in your bath tub and then say giving your kids a bath it's potentially dangerous, not to mention gross. Clean whatever you feed them in VERY well. It's best to have a seperate rubber maid container etc. to feed them in if that's what your going to do. I hope this helped you. Laughing

i do both bcz one is too slow and has to be alone so i separate him. for the other, i have no problems with keeping the water clean from that perspective cz i hand-feed her and she gulps in the food quickly without making any mess around. yes i trained her Cool

Unfortunately, there are some turtles that will not eat outside of their tank, mine for example, so you have to feed them in the tank, I tried feeding them in a separate container and all they did is just try to escape and when I came near they would just stare at me. Confused Laughing

lol- mine just must be pigs, they'll eat anywhere anytime as much as I will give them. I have even had them take a nip at me while cleaning the tank- I wonder if they thought I tasted good? Laughing They are so curious.
