| My friend gave me a turtle about 2 years ago for my birthday. My turtle lives in a big tank and half of the tank in filled with rocks and the other water. It (she) stays in the water when she is awake but when she goes to sleep she gets on top of the dry rocks. She has webbed feet with claws but they are not sharp. They look sharp but the are soft. Her underside is bright yellow. On the side of her head she has orange stripes. I hope that was enough information. Thanks! Please email me at LilZay53102@aol.com if you have some info I can use. Thanks again! |

I\'m pretty sure your turtle is a red ear slider. _________________ I now work at Petco so if you have serious question I can ask our vet every Friday. Just email me the Q.

It\'s either a red eared slider or a painted turtle. Does it have a lot of yellow on it\'s shell, or does it have a nice little red smudge right behind her ear?

If it has the red mark behind the ear it is red eared slider. Is there any red markings on the side of the shell? That would probably be a painted turtle. _________________ Visit my New Website, Aquatic Turtle Care and Information with Forum. http://www.geocities.com/glenntiljen/index.htm |

I live on the gulf of mexico and I found what I thought was a slider(size of a 1/2 dollar) on the beach after a rainstorm. He is now 6 mnths old and he looks less like a slider. He is getting pronounced ridges on his back and dark olive oval markings too but no yellow or green circle inside of the olive rings common to the sawback. He has a bright orange bellie and yellow stripes on the sides of his head and feet. The ring around his shell is now getting ridges and not smooth. His fav food is snails!! He is a real pig and eats all the time, Oh yea his name is dominic! _________________ Nicko proud owner of Dominic |
