I have a question about my feeding schedule. I have two RES. One that is about 1 year and 2 months old and another that is 5 months old. I feed them Nutrafin Max Turtle Gammarus Pellets. I feed them once in the morning and once at night from Monday to Thursday. I feed them about 13-18 pellets each time. From Friday to Sunday, I feed them once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night. Each time i would feed them about 13-18 pellets. I think i am overfeeding them. However, whenever i throw in the pellets and leave and come back after 10 mins. they seem to be hungry again. I see them searching the bottom of the 10 gallong tank for food. I have the size of golf ball rocks on the bottom and they move them and they find their defecate and they eat it or anything else filthy down there. I also see them biting the turtle dock. Any suggestions on what and when i should feed them

wow this IS too much. how do u manage their budget? Laughing

u have to cut that down. 13 is even too much for once a day. and keep in mind that they'll keep eating as long as u offer them something since they don't really have anything to do in there

Be careful with over feeding, it can cause pyramids, a condition in which the shell out grows the body, it starts to develop pyramid shapes on it, it kinda looks like it is carrying the Egyptian desert on its back. Smile

or put some rosey reds in the tank and let the turtles get some exercise to eat!!! one pellet a day? Sounds a bit harsh. Personally I wouldn't cut it back that much.

well the schedule for feeding is 4 pellets per day for each one that means 8 pellets for two of them...since the past few days i started to do this ... ive seen my male turtle try to bite his arms or hand... he gets on the turtle dock and he looks around and turns his head to the left or right.. and he sees his arm and takes a bite at it..... this is weird and i havent seen do this ever... however his arm doesnt bleed and he stops biting after he realizes its his own arm (i guess) this is making me concern has this every happen to any of u and what did u do about it ?

oh i feel guilty now Exclamation well yes mine did that, he starts biting the female's head when he's hungry. he doesn't hurt her (actually he's only the size of her head) so i find it somehow funny Embarassed

ok so let's go to plan B, don't cut their food down let them exercise instead. maybe fill the bath tub and let them swim for a couple of hours everyday or put them on the floor for a walk
