| Alright...i have kind of a weird question. Have you ever heard about letting tadpolls and turtles live together? My husband said that the turtle wont eat them...but i have a feeling that he will. our turtle is still a baby. and i dont think i've ever heard of frogs and a turtle living together..lol And if you've heard of the combination, how should we equipt the tank, to keep the turtle away from the baby frogs? |

anything with a turtle could turn into lunch..even if not, i read a lot about toxins coming from frog skins that may harm the turtle. now what confuses me most is how do they live in the wild together??? + someone here (reptileman where r u?) has frogs living with a turtle for a while now _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

Hi...I have tadpoles, big and small..bull frogs, tree frogs, craw dads, fish of all types, and my monster turtles all living together. I'm sure some become lunch but not many, my turtles like there pellets and the water plants mostly, in fact I have seen the little fish eating the food out of the turtles mouth. I suppose if I didn't feed them for awhile, I wouldn't have anything but turtles in the pond. lol ........I just helped my friend set up a turtle tank/pond she has 4 of my babies, she set it up on her patio. We used and old fashion claw legged bath tub. She lives on 800 acres with huge ponds and a huge river front of about 2 plus miles, some of the ponds dry up, so we have been catching everything we can out of those ponds and moving them to the river, some get side tracked to her turtle tank...lol well she now has 2 tubs set up and a 30 gallon tall tank , there's tall about moving one of the feed tanks that's not in use to the yard, it's about 500 gallons...lol any way everything is living very well together, but we try to keep the sizes of fish, frogs, and turtles the same or close. Oh as the fish and frogs get to big they go to the river. I think they all get along so well is that we have a lot of plants and rocks in the tank, so they can hide, the top or floating plants work out great for the frogs, and the turtles. In the adult tub, we made a island, we used old bricks as the filler, then put sand to fill in the gaps, and more sand on top, the bottom of the tub is sand also. In this tub there is an Asian box turtle, he will eat the frogs and fish, but some frogs he leaves alone, we don't know why they are the same size and kind as the ones he eats, we just say that they are his pets...lol....sorry for the long post, I haven't been on line for a while...been saving pond life, we had temps in the 100's to 107 for about 4 weeks straight. it's finaly cooled off. the little ponds were drying up so fast. we saved 75 to 80% of the fish, frogs, ect. _________________ There is nothing more exciting than to see baby Turtles, popping up out of the ground, or to find them wondering across the yard. |

Thanks dixieee! I'm glad to see you made it back from your trip ok. hope all went well. bet your little turds missed you. Mine are all fine...I actualy parted with a few of my babies...lol not easy but set the tanks up my self. they just love them. Ever see a old school biker talk baby talk to his baby turtles...lol he has a very deep voice on top of it...Don't mess with his turtles...lol He has the best of everything for them, no short cuts....They see him across the room and start swimming like made into the glass right for him, of coarse if he see's them, he goes right over and starts the baby talk to them, puts his hand in and one gets on then jumps off and turns around and does it again. He is always saying look how happy they are...I have to say they are....lol (spoiled) _________________ There is nothing more exciting than to see baby Turtles, popping up out of the ground, or to find them wondering across the yard. |
