What's the earliest age that a turtle can start mating. I think Myrtle is too young to start mating and how do you know if they have mated and the female is ready to lay eggs. |

I think I heard that 5 years is the earliest they can start mating, but I could be wrong. _________________

| Age has nothing to do with mating it all goes to size. If you are talking in terms of RES it is usually 5 inches for the males and about 6-7 inches for the females. You will know that they have mated only if you watched them. Feel behing the females legs for lumps or hardness in their gravid area. If she is fertile wait a month before getting a 40/60 mix of sand and non chemicalized soil for her eggs, Make sure its about 6-10 inches deep for her also. |
