Hey guys and gals, It's been a while since I posted last sorry.
My 55 sprung a leak and is dripping water as I type this :O
Now my question is: Will three turtles, one is a full size RES the other RES is Med size and the painter is Med-small. Would a 90 gal be ok ?
I'm very broke and will struggle to get a 90 but my budget allows a 75 a bit easier.
What would you do?
(I have enough filter, light and heat for a 90) |

Did the leak come from the sealer or did the glass crack, if it is from the sealer, you can get some aquarium grade silicone at walmart to seal the leak back up, just clean the area where the leak is with some alcohol and apply a dab of the silicone with your finger and press hard, but not so hard that you'll break it, that is to get the silicone into the crevaces or holes that may have let the water leak. _________________

Well I did it...
I shopped around yesterday and found a very good deal on a new 90 gal and stand. It came out to 253.00 out the door. I called atleast 20 places locally and I could not beleive it but Petland had the best price
For those that have a 90 gal, how have you set up the basking area? I used cinderblocks as a temp... But I'm just not sure that they are chemical free enough to be used on a daily basis. I'd like to use some sort of Plexiglass. But I know from the past the turtles are very strong and relentless and damaged my last plexiglass setup in the 55 gal.
Please toss up some ideas, I'd like to keep the water as deep as possible

So here is it...
Click the pic to see it bigger
The water still has to be changed a few more times to get clear & I'm off to get new media for the 404 in a few minuets |

it's nice but maybe u could build something that floats on the top leaving space for the turtles to swim under the basking area..btw, do they get completely dry out there cz i see that the blocks are underwater _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

Trust me, the tank is huge!
As for the blocks being under water... Nope there is one that is dry and they use it.
When the water gets clear, I'll be sure to snap more pics for you to see the details. |

Very nice, I would put a fake plant that almost reaches the surface so that they can rest on it when they get tired _________________

Once a month I put about 30-40 gold fish in.. it costs $1 for 10 here.
They need the excersize and they like them. I know it's not the best thing for them, But the other 29 days in the month I feed them sticks and fruits. and sometimes a slice of cheese |

I would be careful with milk products, I read that their system can't process it. _________________

| Quote: | A Word About Dairy Products
===========================
Dairy products are not a natural food for turtles, and not very good
for them. Turtles do not have the intestinal flora to properly digest
dairy; and the cheese is too fatty for them. In addition, cheese is
actually a poor source of calcium, because it also has a large amount
of phosphorus, which inhibits calcium absorption (yep, that is true
for people, too, but the Dairy Counsel won't tell you that .
Do not feed milk for the same reasons.
