Guess what! Mad

I just recently realized that I still had internet all along! curse my bad memory.

My turtle has a shell problem, part of teh shell is white, but not completely white, as if part of the carapace. 90% sure it is fungus, though a little uncertainty. He seems to be fine. I heard the treatment was ACRIFLAVIN, but I also read somewhere that it can be cured with salt baths (?). What kind should I use? sea salt, table salt, kosher salt, etc etc etc...

Please give me an answer!

Oh no, I think its shell rot! But the shell feels fine...

Lets see... Its summer so I took him outside for 10 min. or so a day, the question is, IS THAT ENOUGH.

Wait, I think he has constipation and internal parasites too! Wow what have I done now! I'm slipping! Gee I hope I don't end up like one of those irresponsible owners who dump their pets into nearby rivers! Surprised

Also need help: he doesn't eat cuttlebone or any vitamin supplements (those powder ones) I put onto its food. Any methods to pump those nutrients in? Without forcing it?

10 min isn't good enough. i know that a couple of hours a day will do. for the calcium, if it's powder then put it in the water and something will have to get in him since he drinks from it

Do the soak method, put the powder (vitamin or calcium) in a little water and mix it very well until it is milky white with no lumps, then put some turtle pellets/balls in to soak, put as many as will soak up the liquid, most, if not all, of the liquid/cal/vit mix should go into the pellets, that is how I give min theirs, I soaked some turtle balls (cause mine come in ball form) in some tuna juice with calcium powder, the turtles love them. Very Happy

Ok. I'll give him 1-2 hours outside, + check for constipation by soaking him in warm water, and buy new powdered vitamins since mine expired and other stuff (PETCO's reptile stuff is on sale).

Thanks for the vitamin tip. Should be very useful. Still, the question remains, what salt should I use for fungus?

I'll check back as soon as he gets better.

i had this happen to 4/6 of mines
took them to the the vet and he said it was from the water
i had been using filtered drinking water and was getting lazy about water changes

he gave them all a shot and i switched to tap water
havent seen this problem since
