|
|
| Okay guys, don't laugh. I have three baby RES's. The two females are about 2 1/2 - 3 inches round. The little guy is about half that. When I take them out of their tank and put them in their feeding dish they go crazy! The big one (Maui) is climbing out of the dish grabbing at the bag with the food in it! Then they scarf all this food down and then they spit it back up! Is that normal? I swear, I thought Maui was going to choke to death today. Do they all do that or am I not feeding them enough? The little male (Oahu) doesn't seem to do it. He doesn't eat nearly as much as the females. Also, Maui bites. Kauai does too (sometimes) but not as much as Maui. I put my hand in their tank to take them out for a feeding and Maui grabbed hold of the skin on my hand and wouldn't let go! Is this normal? Is there a way to break her from this bad habit? It doesn't hurt now, but when she gets big I bet you it will! Thanks so much for your help. |

I have read about turtles throwing up after eating, more than likley because they ate too much or too fast, have you tried feeding them at different times so that each gets the same amount and doesn't over feed?
Biting is normal for them, some turtles are more tolerating than others, some freak out, while others try to bite your fingers off, it depends on your turtle's personality, you can't go by what other turtles do. , once they get used to you handling them they should stop biting as often as they do now. _________________

my smaller turtle did that once too and i was scared to death cz i thought he was choking and will not be able to make it..i read later that this is normal only if it happens during or right after eating
for biting, oh this is the craziest normal thing in turtles _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

two of my little turtles are so greedy, that they eat too fast and throw up afterwards.
so long as the turtle looks active and not lethargic afterwards, i woulnd't be too worried.
lol little turtles can sometimes get aggressive. one of my babies recently found out she can hiss.. and that's all she does whenever i pick her up now lol _________________
