I have had my red eared slider for about 6 months. When I first got him I watched him basking all the time. After about 3 months or so, I stopped seeing him so I bought a different island that was bigger, since the turtle had grown, but I have not seen a difference. I am worried that he is not basking enough and may develop a problem due to lack of UVB exposure. Any suggestions on how I know that he is basking or how to get him to bask more?[/i][/b]

maybe he's stressed with the change of the basking place..not basking is not that bad cz too much basking is the bad sign so if u don't notice softshell problems there should be nothing to worry about (assuming that he's eating well and swimming as much as b4)..

another option is what are the temps on the basking area? it might be too hot for him to stay there..make sure of the temps and if everything's fine he'll have to get back basking soon..the biggest problem u might face is shell rotting but i hope u don't reach that

good luck and keep us posted Smile
