They are escape artists! How high is the water level? If it's really high he could have managed to go over the side.

The edge of my tank is only about 3 or 4 inches from the basking area, oddly enough, they have never tried to climb out Laughing , I'm sure they will figure it out sooner or later though. Laughing Laughing

i had one of my turtles somehow get out of a tank and land into a pile of plushies.

let me tell you.. i tore my room apart looking for that little squirt.. and when i found him, he was just lounging around like nothing happened. ^__^

they're so cute though.. i couldn't help but laugh.

I like the way they look around when you put them in the yard, their eyes look so full of wonder, they walk around very slowly like they are trying to see everything before they are put back in their tank. Laughing

aww stray, i hear you on that one. today i put my little girl, pox on carpet for the first time.

she stopped and looked around, sizing everything around her.. and then bolted towards my mom. i have no idea why she went towards my mom of all things (she never sees my mom), but my mom ended up with a munchkin turtle on her foot.

i really love the inquisitive nature of turtles. some people say that reptiles are really slow and stupid.. but if they'd spend some time actually getting to know the creatures, they'd see something completely different!!!

Hello, My name is Kitty, I just signed up today, I can't help but smile when I read about all the escapee's. My Turtles can climb.......The Babies get on top of things twice there length, and stretch there little legs out, to bask. They look like little flying saucers.

Welcome to the board Kitty, I am glad you like all our stories, I just had one of my turtles drop from the scale I was weighing him on, but he didn't fall straight to the floor, have you ever seen a cartoon where one of the caracters falls from the top of a tree and hits every branch on the way down?, well, that is what happened, he wiggled his way out of my hands, hit the table that the scale was on, I reached for him and missed, he fell (or rather walked) off the table, I reached again for him and caught him for like a second ( this was already like 12 inches from the floor), then he hit the chair's leg that was besides the table (at about 6 inches) and finally the floor. I am sure it scared the heck out of him, and although I was worried about him, I just had to smile (right after checking for cracks-bumps-scratches-broken bones-lost teeth-broken nails-etc.-etc.) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

They both weigh 4 ounces BTW. Very Happy

Oh Ya!, I watched one of my turtles, climb the face of the waterfall, she made it to the top for about 10 sec. she leveled out, but only 3 legs on the rock, I still not sure what went wrong, she went head over heels backwards, about 3 full turns, she landed in the water, I rushed out to get her, but by the time I could get the glass sliding door open she was on her way back up. It reminded me of a cartoon, bet she saw stars.....
