I was looking at my turtle today and I saw it inserthing his face into his shell and the way in. They have also been scraching their eyes. Is that bad? Is it the water? Do I need it to clean it? Thanks for you time.

Along with clean water it needs to be unclorinated water, or as close as you can get. Sometimes the clorine is very irritating to their eyes. |

I figure that if I can smell the chlorine, it would more than likely be a problem for the turtles since they use their sense of smell to find food, if the chlorine smell is too great, they won't be able to smell their food, it will also irritate their eyes, my tap water is very chlorinated, I put some dechlorinator in the bucket I use to fill the tank and I can't smell any chlorine in the bucket, if I don't use the dechlorinator I can smell the chlorine right away. _________________

I don't think it's the chlorine, because I use water drops for the chlorine. The turtle inserted his head into his shell all the way in not like a normal turtle, but all the way in. I couldn't see his eyes or anything like that. Well I hope you guys can help me thanks for your time.

I was referring to the eye thing, as for the getting the head in all the way, most turtles can do that, and unless it is acting weird like swimming lopsided, I don't think there is a problem, if your turtle is eating fine and active, maybe something scared it and it still hasn't gotten over it, who knows. _________________
