I have a 10 year old female red ear turtle and I am wondering if anyone else has a restless turtle during the spring time. It started in early march and she swims quickly, digging and moving the filters and her basking spot around. She has also stopped eating repto-min and only eats some shrimp, grapes and a little bit of romaine lettuce. After her hissy fit she falls asleep for a bit and then poof she is at it again. Now i remove her from the tank when she gets that way and let her walk around so she gets tired lol
SO i am just wondering if it is a spring thing for the turtle to start acting restless. *ALSO earler in march she would start swimming in the middle of the night..*
Thanks

my guy does that all the time. i think he\'s just hyper, but i don\'t take it as anything abnormal.

maybe she\'s outgrown reptomin sticks. i can\'t imagine feeding those to my guys forever.

believe it or not but i still feed the sticks.. as far as health, they guys are fine.. now granted i have never given them anything different so they would never know whats out there.. as for the hissy fits stated above... my guys are very hyper right now.. i noticed it a few days ago.. of course then i expanded the tank and now they swim from side to side like its their job... it may jus tbe the time of year and they know it..

my bigger turtle, I say bigger because they\'re both the same age and one is twice the size as the other, freaks out all the time, sometimes for no reason at all. I don\'t get it, the smaller one is much more calm, never goes crazy.

I think that they do it on purpose, mine are the same way, one is very calm, and the other one freaks out when it sees me, unless it is hungry:D, but I think they do it to annoy us:DVery Happy

Your girl turtle might be nesting...it is spring time and since i have a girl and a boy i know taht they get weird around this time and they start mating....never had any eggs we could salvage though but she always starts moving things around more(she she also does normally) but she digs a lot in the rocks i think looking ofr a place to put her eggs i dunno though just some things i have noticed about my little girl
