I have everything ready. I have everything needed: UVB, UVA light, Filter, Natural Rain Water, Heater ( water is 85). My turtles had swollen eyes before, but they seemed to be getting better. The only problem is that they won\'t eat. They will only eat earthworms and fried shrimp. I tried feeding them carrots and ReptoMin Floating Sticks, but they won\'t eat them. What else can I try feeding them? Thanks for your help.

well usually turtles don`t eat due to the change of diet...if u have fed them a certain kind of food very often they get use to it...then if u change they won`t eat it untill their really despred for food.....try pellets their kinda healthy....buy good ones.... _________________ Love Your Turtles Always.....They Are Living Things Like We Are....God Had Created Them....We Live To Care For Them.....Love To All.........

| umm... fried shrimp, dude? thats probulaly not very good for ur turtle... my softy had the same problem when i caught her, she wouldnt eat anything until i went to the pet store and bought sun dried baby shrimp. it comes in a little container like reptomin does. she ate that fine, then i moved on to reptomin and she started eating that.... i would also recommend going to the pet store and buying crickets... turtles love crickets and its good for them, too |

I have Reptomin food pellets. They are very long, and my turts won\'t eat them unless I break them up into smaller pieces. I also have a food thing that has dried baby shrimp, a different kind of pellet, and mini krill. They like all of those things. I got some fish the other day and they ate two of them. I think the fish are a little fast though! I fed them some chicken one time too. I\'ll get pics of the pellets. How old are your turdees? _________________ Kiwi and Luckey, the angels

My turtles try to be sneaky with the fish, but they usually get away:D, I give them reptomin, freeze dried bloodworms, cooked chicken(occasionally), and fish flakes(the flakes are actually for the fish but the turtles go after it, the fish usually get the scraps:D _________________

I put fish flakes in the tank too. The turtles seem to like them. Supposedly turts are supposed to eat tuna too. I haven\'t tried yet. I need to see if they eat veggies. Like lettuce. _________________ Kiwi and Luckey, the angels

Oh!! I see there are two of them. I thought the shell looked like the arm of the other one, making it look like a sea turtle. My mistake. Doh!! _________________ Kiwi and Luckey, the angels

i have those same pellets and dried shrimps..yes turtles do eat lettuce and canned tuna..lettuce should be included in their diet while tuna fish is only for treats..
pellets are small things that contain everything..i mean it by everything (like the 4 food groups together)..i read the ingredients once and was sick _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

No because it contains too much fat, it is just as a variety, so they don\'t get bored with or get too used to one food item, it is not suggested to give raw meat to your turtles, reptomin should stay in their diet because of all the nutrients it has that other foods (such as chicken) don\'t have. _________________

Not Iceberg Lettuce!!!!!!
I feed my baby canteloupe a lot. It doesn\'t dirty up the tank like bananna or lettuce does. I just cut it up into bite size pieces and he loves it. I also give him reptomin pellets for his staple diet. He likes that too, but he will probably eat anything I throw over in there, he is just naturally greedy.
He also eats his bubbles. _________________

Yeah, my baby loves banannas (but then again there isn\'t much that he won\'t eat)but I wont give them to him too often because the next day I will have the clean the tank guranteed.
So now what I do since banannas are sticky, I cut them into bite size pieces and let them stick to the side of the tank just above the water level. The funniest thing is watching him stick his head out of the water to grab a bite. But I don\'t have to worry about bannanna bits floating in the water making it dirty. _________________

Be very careful about feeding bananas to turtles. Bananas are high in potassium and phosphorus, both of which can interfere with calcium absorption/metabolism. Captive turtles generally get too much of these minerals in the diet already. Bananas also are easily addictive, and a turtle can start refusing other foods/become a fussy eater. Sometimes bananas are used to get a turtle eating or with oral meds. In general, though, bananas should be given very occasionally if at all--about every 6 weeks. _________________ ""You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed."" -Antoine de Saint Exupery- |

I fed my turtles bananas and blueberries last night. I don\'t think they like the bananas that much nor the blueberries. It was fun to watch though. _________________ Kiwi and Luckey, the angels
