My 4 year old son found a turtle that is only the size of a quarter or little bigger that we have kept ... he/she looks a lot like a RES but has no red near the ears. He/She has yellow striping on skin and the underside is red and black. I originally thought it was a painted turtle is this what I have? I don\'t have pics yet but hopefully will soon if they turn out.  |

It does sound like a painted turtle or maybe an eastern painted turtle. I have a painted turtle. e-mail me the pics and i can identify him for you. Dont worry im GOOD at this.
